Ely Square

Elyria, Ohio

The City of Elyria is celebrating its Bicentennial in 2017. A signature project to celebrate this occasion will be the replacement of the Ely Square Fountain located in the City’s historic downtown square. A fountain has historically been at this location since 1851 with several renovations and replacements, the last of which was in 1981.

BCI met with several groups to determine the most desired features and configurations. The selected design includes a two tiered set of pools with cascading waterfalls from each level to the pool below to commemorate the Black River waterfalls located near downtown.   Animated and synchronized “Jumping Jets” will shoot up from the surrounding plaza to the lower pool, allowing interaction with the water. The fountain will also feature synchronized lighting and fountain effects.
