In efforts to better serve patrons and an expanding population, ACPL contracted with BCI to provide a study to analyze their needs and find solutions to enhance their already high-quality library. The study analysis consisted of determining staff and community needs, while magnifying key program components such as dedicated teen space, expanded children’s area, community rooms, and library support spaces.
The renovation and addition project included a 5,000 s.f. addition containing community meeting rooms and restroom facilities, and a new children’s wing. Renovated areas of more than 15,000 s.f. included maker spaces, small meeting rooms, expanded staff work areas, and a complete re-work of the collections. HVAC and lighting also were replaced throughout. The project was completed in 2018.
