Brandstetter Carroll Inc. led a transformative project for the redevelopment of the University of the Cumberlands’ Grover M. Hermann Memorial Library. The President’s goal was to create a 21st Century Learning Center. This vision required rethinking of how to use the space. The first floor of the building is devoted to technological advancement of students and the development of collaborative thinkers, while the second floor of the building will be utilized for the majority of the collection, offices, and study. The renovation work included finishing the building with new drywall, acoustical ceilings with upgraded LED lighting, new shelving designed for library use, upgraded restroom materials, and the improvement of interior textures. The space also includes learning labs, maker spaces, and a 24-hour café and lounge. The library is 44,400 s.f. and cost $6.315 million, with construction completed in 2021.
