The Butler County Engineers Office contracted with Brandstetter Carroll Inc. to design a roundabout for the intersection of Lakota Drive and Eagle Ridge Drive in West Chester Township, Ohio. This intersection serves the Lakota East High School and is the first public roundabout constructed for the County. The overall project also included a bikeway and sidewalk extensions to the east and west to provided a link between the commercial, residential, school, and recreation areas in the Township.
The roundabout was selected at this location in the place of traffic signal due to the volumes present in the area and the nature of the traffic. The roundabout will facilitate traffic for all legs of the intersection without causing delays for turning movements. It also assists with reducing speed on Lakota Drive in advance of the adjacent High School.
