The Nicholas County Judicial Center was placed on a smaller than preferred property due to lack of available suitable building sites in downtown Carlisle. The site design approach had to be creative to position the building to suit the function of the justice facility. Due to a small and stagnant population, and in order to reduce the footprint to fit on the site, the program was pared down to two courtrooms. All support spaces, clerk areas, chambers, and in-custody areas were delivered in an appropriately “judicial” designed building both inside and out.
